The Special Libraries Association is one of the more interesting and eclectic organizations you can imagine. Their annual meeting is both too long and too expensive for most librarians but if you can strategically attend part of it, you'll get a lot out of it.

The American Bar Association's annual legal technology extravaganza, put on by the Law Practice Management Section, and held in Chicago. I'll be speaking there on the Friday at two programs.

The biggest legal technology conference, put on by American Lawyer Media events, is held in January in New York.

The American Association of Law Libraries is holding its 99th meeting in St. Louis, MO. It remains an excellent way to meet other librarians, and new law librarians shouldn't miss the CONELL special pre-conference.

The American Lawyer Media (ALM) annual Legaltech show in New York. Still the leading event for legal technologists of all stripes (big firm techies are more focused on the Lawnet-now-International Legal Technology Association ILTA). Need to get educated on technology or specific products? This is a great place to get all of that done, and see products that might not otherwise be seen in other parts of the country.

The Ohio Regional Association of Law Libraries annual meeting is in Indianapolis this year. Librarians from all states bordering Ohio will be at the meeting, which is a good time to catch up on local developments. The County Law Librarians will surely be active, since our funding has really been tinkered with by the Ohio General Assembly.

The West coast iteration of the Legal Tech Show, an American Lawyer Media production and still one of the best technology shows going, is being held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel on June 22 and 23, 2005. The sessions are interesting but it's even more useful for seeing the latest vendors and technologies.
